Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Dedicates New Gas Circuit Breaker Facility

 Additional space will allow increased production to meet growing demand

WARRENDALE, Penn., June 3, 2008 — Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. dedicated the expansion of its gas circuit breaker (GCB) factory at 512 Keystone Drive on May 28, 2008. The expansion, which includes a fourth manufacturing bay, a shipping bay and office space will allow Mitsubishi Electric to meet the growing demand for high voltage breakers from its large customer base. Mitsubishi Electric manufactures high voltage breakers through 550KV and has produced and supplied over 10,000 GCBs to North American customers.

Started in 1985 as WM Power Products, Inc., a joint venture between Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Westinghouse, the company became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric in 1989 and changed its name to Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc., in 1990.

In late 1989, the company opened its new US headquarters in Warrendale, including an office and factory/service facility. Subsequent facility expansions occurred during 1998-2000 and in 2003 when the company opened its present headquarters building at 530 Keystone Drive in Warrendale. Last November, Mitsubishi Electric, which has a company workforce of about 500 people, opened a 100,000-sq. ft. plant at 520 Keystone Drive.
